Achieve Welcomes New Nurses
Story by Vice President Services, Becky Hansen
South Dakota Achieve is pleased to welcome two new nurses to the Medical Services Team at South Dakota Achieve. The addition of these new members brings the total number of Registered Nurses working in the department to 12. Registered Nurses are responsible for working with each person and their interdisciplinary service team to customize services designed to support people to achieve their best possible health.
Meet Karen:
For the last 17 years I have been primarily at home with our children. Several years ago I decided to go back to college to pursue a career in nursing. Since graduating, I have been working as an RN at the Good Samaritan Village.
My husband, Brett and I have four boys (17, 15, 11, and 10) which keep us busy! Brett installs and programs robotic milkers. We enjoy boating and fishing in the summer.Meet Marty:
I grew up in the Black Hills and moved east to attend college at SDSU. After receiving my first degree, I worked at ADVANCE, in Brookings, for 6 years. During my time there I became very interested in nursing and set out toward a degree in nursing. I’ve spent the past 2 years working at Avera McKennan, on the Surgical/Trauma floor.
I have 2 dogs, which are boxers, at home that keep me very busy. In my free time I volunteer for the South Dakota Boxer Rescue.
