Award-Winning Catering
Story by Daniel Barofsky, Manager of
Food Services
“Accent on Events”, South Dakota
Achieve’s Food Services catering
division, has been in the recent
spotlight as they have achieved
phenomenal growth and local
recognition for their varied
catering successes. A third place
finish in the
2009 SD Pork Council’s “Taste of
Elegance”vaulted
them past local culinary giants such
as Minerva’s Yankton and most of the
large hotel chain chefs in this
year's competition.
With everything from hosting
Goodwill Industries
annual Thanksgiving open house
dinner of nearly 1,000 people, to
the catering choice of the
Special Olympics
May
competition, “Accent on Events”
provides catering services both
on-site at their Sioux Falls
Agency location on Western
Avenue, and off-site
for functions
such as
theme parties, weddings and
corporate sponsored events.
Led by team members, Melanie
Gillespie, Lead Kitchen
Supervisor and Teresa
Bell, Chef, South Dakota Achieve
has not only made a name for
itself in the catering industry,
but has been successful in many
outside food contracts. The
latest and largest of these was
when insurance behemoth,
Midland National Life,
chose “Accent on Events” to
provide food service for their
500 plus employees in a newly
built, multi-million dollar
structure on Sioux Falls south
side. (View

and “Accent on Events”
to future growth and success.
