Joel Meets Major Goals!
Story by Service Coordinator, Shannon
Jones
When I first started working
with Joel, he had two goals that he
wanted to achieve. One was to see
the ocean and the other to get a
paying job.
After
lots of saving and planning, in
September, Joel realized his dream
of seeing the ocean. He went to California
and had many highlights during his
trip. From the San Diego Zoo Joel
states, “The monkeys were pretty
neat.” At Sea World, he enjoyed
seeing Shamu and the sting rays.
As far
as the ocean, the best part of
seeing that was “the enormous size
and it seemed never-ending!”
Joel thought that the plane trip out there was
also great. He has numerous
pictures and memories that he likes
to share.
In October, Joel met his
second goal of getting a
paid job. He began
working at
Inspirations by South
Dakota Achieve every other Saturday.
This allows him to still
have time for his
volunteer position at
the Great Plains Zoo.
When asked what was the
best part of his new job
he replied without
hesitation, “The
customers are definitely
the best part." He also
added that the jewelry
there is the best, and
there is a blanket that
he wants to buy.
Please join me in
congratulating Joel on his
recent successes!
His
newest goal is to take a
trip to Alaska. He is
working hard to save money
for this vacation.
